Monika Latos-Miłkowska
associate professor
Monika combines legal practice with academic work – she is a legal advisor and researcher specialising in labour law.
Her special interests – both practical and academic – are the issues of collective labour law, organisational transformations on the part of the employer and their impact on labour relations, the prevention of mobbing, discrimination and other undesirable phenomena in the work environment, and the legal aspects of the use of artificial intelligence in employment.
As a legal advisor, Monika specialises in labour law cases, both collective and individual. She has experience in litigating employment law cases.
Her unique combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge gives her an open and creative outlook, helping her to find out-of-the-box solutions to legal problems. Monika always emphasises that there is no contradiction between theory and practice. On the contrary. Knowledge of theory allows her to find original solutions to practical legal problems, and legal problems solved in the practice of legal counsel inspire her research work.
Monika is an experienced and highly regarded lecturer and trainer. She specialises in delivering lectures, workshops and training courses on labour law and collective labour law.
Monika’s passion is collective labour law and her idea fixe is to help the parties to the social dialogue to conduct it and to get their relations right.
Monika is the author of more than 100 academic publications on labour law. In particular, she is the author of the monograph ‘Protection of the Employer’s Interest’, which formed the basis for the awarding of her postdoctoral degree in 2014. She is also the co-author of the highly regarded commentary to the Labour Code edited by Professor Ludwik Florek and the author of a commentary to the Act on the Protection of Employees’ Claims in the Event of an Employer’s Insolvency. She is also co-author of several volumes of the Labour Law System edited by Professor Krzysztof W. Baran. She regularly publishes in Labour and Social Security, Studies in Labour Law and Social Insurance and other high-profile legal journals (Polish and foreign).
Monika is Head of the Labour Law Department of the Law College of Kozminski University. Previously, she was employed for many years as an assistant professor in the Department of Labour Law and Social Policy at the WPIA UW.
