Irek is one of the co-founders of DGTL Law. As a senior partner he is responsible to the Corporate Law (M&A) practice as well as, together with Michal Kibil, the New Technologies Law practice which we refer to as the Digitalization Area.

Irek’s experience is unique and on one hand encompasses in-house council experience related to his many years of work for the IBM. He started as head of the legal department in Poland, thank joined a regional team in Vienna, Austria as a regional team leader for CEE area and head of the outsourcing contract practice in CEEMA (Central Europe Middle East and Africa). As a member of European legal team at IBM, Irek was also responsible for FCPA in CEE and Export Regulations for Europe. After IBM, Irek joined Irek Telecommunication Group Poland S.A. the biggest telco operator in CEE region (controlled by France Telecom) as General Counsel managing a team of over 60 lawyers.

Another area of Irek’s experience consists of everything he learned while working at CMS – British law firm, where, for over 7 years, he was a Partner responsible for the IT (at the CEE level) and co-head of global telecommunication practice. Irek was also part of the Polish M&A team.

Last but not least, the final area where Irek’s experience lays are a purely business one. Throughout his career, Irek has acted as Chief Operating Officer, member of the IBM POLAND Board responsible for the company’s functioning in Poland. He was also the Secretary General for the TP Group S.A. (and Head of the Ethic Committee ) managing the law and regulation, administration and safety areas. His last position at TP S.A. Group was a Member of the Board of Directors responsible for the Business Strategy and Development. After TP S.A. Irek served as Senior Vice-President of the Polish Post S.A. responsible for the IT sector and International Relations and Strategy.

In his career Irek has served as non-executive Director in such companies like Emitel, Wirtualna Polska, KGHM and PKP PLK. Currently he is a non-executive director at DESA S.A. – the largest auction house in Poland.

Additionally, Irek is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Leon Kozminski’s Academy, member of the International Consultative Council of the College of Law ALK, member of the board for the L.Kozminki Foundation and the advisor to Rafal Baniak – the President of the largest organization connecting Polish companies – Employers of Poland “Pracodawcy RP.”

At DGTL Irek mainly works on supporting investors when it comes to finding and establishing relations with firms that are experiencing fast growth, completing partial or full shares acquisition transactions in this type of companies as well as preparing development strategies.

He also assists owners of such companies when it comes to creating and implementing appropriate conditions for obtaining next rounds of financing. Irek helps DGTL clients with digitalization processes within their companies, from building strategy through its implementation in various sectors of their activity.

This encompasses computerization and automation of selected processes, but also verification of product portfolio while taking into consideration changing client experience.

The selected projects implemented by Irek in recent years include::

• Purchase of telecommunication firms for a fund dealing with the consolidation of the FTTH market in Poland;
• Supported one of the active investment funds when it comes to acquiring tech-companies on various stages of development;
• Supported the PE Fund through an investment exit process;
• Supported the sales process of a telecommunication company for one of the largest operators on the ICT market;
• Supported the sales process of a medical clinic for one of the integrating entities of this market;
• Acquisition of a separated part of an enterprise in the form of a center for data processing, for a telecommunication company;
• Negotiation of commercial contracts when it comes to providing IT services (with emphasis on SaaS services) on the B2B market;
• Implementation contract negotiation on the IT market;
• Supported the implementation of compliance systems in AML and RODO areas as well as those indicated by the Act on the National Cybersecurity System.
